Sandra Cunningham
residence--Coral Gables Fla.
the architect and I came up
with a solution for sandra's needs at her new residence in coral gables.
sandra is a fashion designer
with a large south american clientele and wanted to have a place for her models
to have private showings of her latest creations
besides her office in the fashion district. she also entertained a lot and
wanted an "outdoor living room" to wine and dine her
friends and clients and show her work. my solution was a mini runway for her
models, an outdoor bar, dining area, pool and spa
all enclosed in a very private french quarter courtyard setting with gas lights,
cracked stucco, bouganvillea, monsteria, areac palms
and a tumbled terra cotta paving throughout the front and rear areas

rear courtyard view
I used advanced areca palms (b&b,14-16'oa) to get a mature look as soon as
possible. the bar, cookout and stage were stained composite wood with
all stainless hardware. an extensive uplighting system was used to give the
arecas and the swimming pool a new dimension at night.

two sections thru the
rear courtyard showing how the levels worked out and what kind of visual theme I
was creating. the 8' cracked stucco wall was a composite
of concrete block with a double sided brick with cracked stucco that came out
looking fantastic thanks to one of the better masonry contractors in the area.
