LORD & TAYLOR --BOCA TOWN CENTRE--BOCA RATON FLORIDA
ONE OF AMERICA'S PREMIERE SHOPPING LOCATIONS

Typically Lord & Taylor's are high end design/construct packages, complete with a planting plan, an irrigation plan
and  landscape lighting specifications. Contract price for this particular store at the Boca Raton Town Centre was
$136,786.78 which I completed in 1986 for Associated Dry Goods which was the current owner of this internationally
known chain.

The planting plan shown created a setting for a skillfully designed three story white marble structure. Large mature
plants were used throughout the scheme giving an instant finished look to this stunning creation that took first
place in the Boca Raton Civic Design Awards Gala in 1987.

Earth forms and several ceramic Desanti sculptures were part of the overall landscape effort along with a high
intensity exterior halogen up  lighting system.

 

State of the art, split irrigation systems with automatic fertilizer and disease control injection systems

All seven Lord & Taylor's have state of the art dual mode automatic irrigation systems. One mode is high volume,
typically consisting of 5-9 impulse sprinkler zones irrigating lawn areas and a low volume mode with 5-12 drip or
low volume zones irrigating mass planting areas. Low volume or drip zones are more complex to design because
each plant grouping has water needs that vary considerably and must be assigned specific drip emitter heads to
achieve this critical goal. A quality look is very important to high end clients like L & T who demand tasteful solutions
to all of their design needs. Kent McCoy is a licensed irrigation designer who passed the Florida Block exam for that
skill in 1985. He has designed hundreds of similar (and larger) irrigation projects since then.
